Nah, it's ok. It's the sort of thing that happens when a country that uses the same language as another one decides to not use the proper name for something, and then use that name for something else. I'm pretty sure it happens to most Americans, probably a lot of Brits too.
Although, our channels are so full of American programming that I imagine lots of us are used to it.
